This facilitates the retrieval of subsets of the natural gamma radiation (NGR) data stored in the ocean drilling database. These data were acquired using NaI sensors on the whole-core multi-sensor track (WC-MST).
Specify those fields on which you wish to limit your query. For example, if you wanted to see information for one specific hole, you would fill in the leg, site, and hole fields and leave the remaining fields blank.
Depending on your network access method and location, it may not be efficient to retrieve NGR data via the web, especially when querying the spectral data. If this page does not meet your data request needs, please contact the Data Librarian for further assistance.
The Output raw data checkbox causes additional calibration and standards data to be displayed. See the Physical Properties Handbook link below for notes and background on the fields returned by this report.
The Display spectra checkbox allows you to display the raw photometer counts for each channel (or energy window) over which data was acquired.
The basic report output will resemble the following:
ODP Sample ID Depth (mbsf) Corr. Counts Total Counts 178 1096A 1H 1 4.0 0.04 4.13 17.27 178 1096A 1H 1 19.0 0.19 2.99 16.13 178 1096A 1H 1 34.0 0.34 4.06 17.20 178 1096A 1H 1 49.0 0.49 4.73 17.87
The ODP Sample ID contains these fields, respectively: leg, site and hole, core and core type, section number (or core catcher 'CC'), and top interval (distance of the measured point from the top of the section in centimeters).
The Corr. Counts field will occasionally be blank. This is an indication that this calculated value was negative or that an underlying data value for the calculation was unavailable. The Total Counts and Background Counts (see below) that feed into this field may be displayed by selecting the Output raw data checkbox.
Total Counts are expressed in units of counts per second (as summed over all photometer energy channels).
The raw data report will include these columns:

Bkgd. Counts are expressed in units of counts per second (as summed over all photometer energy channels).
Run and Run Timestamp are provided for data identification and troubleshooting at the time of data collection. Each pass of a section through the WC-MST data acquisition system is assigned a unique run number and timestamp for that leg.
Every data run is associated with an equipment calibration. The co-efficients for this calibration are displayed in the several calibration columns.
The Interval and Period columns are expressed in units of seconds. These columns reflect data acquisition parameters for the WC-MST system.
The spectral data report will include these columns:

EW=Energy Windows; Ch.=Channel; Inc.=Increment
The two forms of NGR spectral data reflect changes in underlying NGR detection hardware. See Tech. Note 26 below for a more detailed discussion.
The first 3 lines shown above reflect the formatting for data collected during and prior to Leg 169 Site 1036. NGR counts were partitioned into 5 energy windows. The Spectra are shown as counts next to the parenthesized range of energy channels over which that count was determined.
The last 3 lines reflect the formatting for data collected during and subsequent to Leg 169 Site 1036. The Spectra for this newer hardware is displayed as counts per each channel from which data was recorded.
