Photographs do not accurately represent the size of the waves or the motion of the vessel in stormy weather; upset stomachs do a much better job of telling you the severity of the seas. After experiencing relatively calm waters when departing Yokohama, the JOIDES Resolution traveled through several days of storms. Even many old timers felt the effects.
