LOCATION:  Site U1309 (prospectus site AMFW-01A)
Hole U1309D
Latitude: 30° 10.1195'N     Longitude: 42° 07.1311'W
Water depth: 1645 mbsl

SCIENCE UPDATE: Cores U1309D-41R to -47R (219.5 to 252.4 mbsf, 60% recovery, 58% average recovery for hole) are intimately interfingered gabbro and troctolitic gabbro, with intervals of orthopyroxene-bearing gabbro, troctolite, and oxide gabbro. Grain size is generally coarse, although finer grained intervals are not uncommon. Evidence of deformation continues to be rare and localized, and alteration is predominantly greenschist grade.
