Sea Trials Transit

Daily Science Report for 27 January 2009

LOCATION: In transit to Guam.

SCIENCE UPDATE: Installation of analytical systems and hardware and software configuration and reconfiguration continues. USIO acceptance testing and planning for sea trials and readiness assessment is underway. Several systems have completed acceptance and more are either completing the acceptance process or are under preacceptance evaluation and testing.

Currently transiting the South China Sea ~60 nm off the west coast of Borneo approaching the Brunei oil fields. Our projected course will take us through the Balabac Strait (south of the Philippines and north of Sabah Malaysia) into the Sulu Sea.

The Staff Scientist and Co-Chief Scientists office was enlarged by 40%. It is located adjacent to the Technical Support and Operations offices, which have also been expanded.
