Daily Science Report for 20 February 2009
LOCATION: Departure from Site U1330 (Ontong Java Plateau)
SCIENCE UPDATE: Advanced Piston Coring (APC) of Hole U1330B continued during the night recovering six cores (320T-U1330B-5H to 10H) to a maximum depth of to 92 mbsf (recovery 103%). Coring ceased at ~0800 hrs and the drill string was pulled clear of the seafloor, ending operations in Hole U1330B at ~1000 hr. By 1645 hr, the JOIDES Resolution was underway to Honolulu, Hawaii. The Readiness Assessment Committee continued processing cores while testing various software applications. All cores from Hole U1330B have been processed using the whole round multisensor logger. The USIO internal acceptance testing continued work in parallel.

Ship highlight of the day: Stratigraphic Correlation Lab
Physical properties and paleomagnetic data are used to correlate adjacent holes and construct a composite depth scale for each site. This lab area was enlarged by 215%!
