Anders McCarthy (Igneous Petrologist, University of Lausanne, Switzerland) loads a core section into the SHIL (Section Half Imaging Logger). The SHIL is a line scan camera which images core sections at a very high resolution (425 ppi/dpi at life size). Anders noted, “At times photographs reveal much more than the unaided eye.” Photographs are a very important component of science, and “We find more and more ways to utilize digital images as technology increases.” (Credit: Bill Crawford, IODP/TAMU) [Photo ID: exp351_035]
