Huayu Lu (Sedimentologist, Nanjing University, P.R. China) works with the Section Half Imaging Logger. This is a specialized line scan camera that takes a digital photograph of each core section. This very high-resolution image is used for description purposes and adds to the permanent record of the core, which is part of the IODP legacy.
