Fo'c's'le Deck: Staff Office

Function

This office is available for various uses. During port calls, it can be used by the Computer Specialists and Public Relations staff to facilitate the arrival of scientists and journalists. During expeditions, it can be used by the Curator, Computer Specialists, and an educator if one sails.

Curation

The Curator is responsible for curating the core, for implementing the science party's sampling plan, and for ensuring that personal samples are collected and shipped per the scientists' instructions.

Public Relations

Public relations events are often organized during port calls. Such events usually include ship tours and press conferences.

Education

Teachers participate on IODP-USIO expeditions under the Teacher at Sea and School of Rock programs.
